N. K, Jemisin's "Cloud Dragon Skies" is an exceptionally well written story concerning a clash of cultures between people who have remained on a greatly changed Earth and those who migrated out to the asteroid belt. Reminiscent of several Ursula Le Guin stories, "Cloud Dragon Skies" is both enjoyable and intriguing. The story was published in the 1 Aug, 2005 issue of Strange Horizons and is online (with more excellent Frank Wu illustrations) here.
This story is the latest audio presentation from Escape Pod. Beautifully read
