David Brin, Clarkesworld and More.

Clarkesworld Magazine has its July issue out (h/t SFFaudio)with two quite good pieces of speculative fiction:

"When the Gentlemen Go By" by Margaret Ronald, which is also available as a haunting, well read 22 minute audio-story in this issue.

and "The Glory of the World" by Sergey Gerasimov.

This issue also features interesting non-fiction, as well as Patipat Asavasena's gloomy, yet beautiful cover.

All available Here.

This week's Escape Pod features David Brin's brilliant story "Those Eyes" read by Stephen and Anna Eley. This allegory is one of the best Escape Pod stories that I have heard, which is very high praise. Well written and well read.

“…So you want to talk about flying saucers? I was afraid of that.

“This happens every damn time I’m blackmailed into babysitting you insomniacs, while Talkback Larry escapes to Bimini for a badly needed rest. I’m supposed to field call-in questions about astronomy and outer space for two weeks. You know, black holes and comets? But it seems we always have to spend the first night wrangling over puta UFOs.

This 39 minute story is available streaming and in MP3 download Here.

The text version, with an afterword is available at the author's website here. (Connecting has been erratic).

This is a very busy weekend for classic, site appropriate comic book stories.

Some cool comic book horror from Pappy's Golden Age Comics blogzine. "Legion Of The Undead" is available Here. The Horrors of it all has a great horror comic called "The Smiling Woman" Here. Golden Age Comic Book Stories has a classic SF comic called "Strategy!" Here. Those Fabuleous Fifties has a Jack Cole story "Pact with the Devil" Here. And Hairy Green Eyeball has a pulp-style comic story about the Borgias called "Bloodbath" Here.

Manybooks.net is highlighting the Hugo nominated Blindsight by Peter Watts as a book of the week.

"Who do you send to meet the alien when the alien doesn't want to meet?"

Available in many e-book formats Here.

Also a book of the week is Andre Norton's classic The Defiant Agents.

And The Online Pulps Site has added two more pulp-fiction short stories for PDF downloads.

"Poison Payoff" by Robert Leslie Bellem from Hollywood Detective, Dec 1945.

and "Considine Laughs" by Emile C. Tepperman from Secret Agent "X"
