Up at Last

Sorry about the lateness, it's been an insane day.

Manybooks has another cool, classic SF story "Upstarts" by L. J. Stecher, from Galaxy Magazine, June 1960.

"The sight of an Earthman on Vega III, where it was impossible for an outlander to be, brought angry crowds to surround John Crownwall as he strode toward the palace of Viceroy Tronn Ffallk, ruler of Sector XII of the Universal Holy Empire of Sunda. He ignored the snarling, the spitting, the waving of boneless prehensile fingers, as he ignored the heavy gravity and heavier air of the unfamiliar planet."

Audio Fiction
Pseudopod has its 120th episode up with "Iowa Highway" by Brendan Detzner, read by Ralph Walters.

"The young men in Bangkok sometimes called him Grandpa or Uncle as he clutched their lithe oiled bodies. His fingers grasped a bit too tight, his nails dug into their skin and drew beads of blood. Sometimes he’d choke them, but never enough to kill them. He had to be careful. He was gaining a reputation among them, and a reputation was something he had to stay away from. But it was hard not to let the old feelings overcome him, the memories flooding into his mind of how it once felt to watch a life quickly fade behind the suffocating film of a plastic bag.

Samnang startled. He clutched frantically at his shirt pocket. The piece of paper was still there."

Gaming
At Miniature Wargaming a science fiction skirmish rules based on the Stalker: Oblivion Lost computer game. Looks cool, though it's in .doc format so it really needs to be printed out to use.

Available for download HERE. [via Free Wargames Rules]

Music
John Anealio has another cool song up at Sci Fi Songs. "The Millennium Falcon for Christmas" is available for MP3 download HERE. (I definitely understand this song!)

"I just wanted the Millennium Falcon for Christmas
and a season full of cheer
I just wanted the Millennium Falcon for Christmas
but I didn't get it that year"

Video
The Internet archive has Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964). I'm not certain if it's newly added or just in more formats. Campy to the extreme.

In ogg and MPEG4 HERE.

And the BBC 1984 is back up, this time under television. I'm glad it was just misfiled instead of being copyright issues. Online HERE.

Comics
The Horrors of It All has a pair of classic pre-code Jack the Ripper stories. "Knife of Jack the Ripper" from Eerie #5 and "Mark of the Ripper " from Strange Suspense Stories #21. There have been so many good Jack the Ripper stories.

Online HERE.

Other Cool
Dial P for Pulp has its latest podcast up. No fiction this time but "the second part of an extended look at Abraham Merritt and his book Ship of Ishtar," reviews, and a cool opening song about drunken airship pirates.

In MP3 download HERE.
